ETTRICK FOREST

THE club held its annual Scottish Building Society Pairs competition.

Played in a round-robin format, the winners and runners-up of each section qualified for the semi-finals.

Ivan Hogg and Stuart Henderson defeated evergreen Pat Houston and Isabel Downie 8-3 in the first semi-final, while Eryl Roberts and Gordon Munro knocked out Tom Brown and Davie Weir in the other 7-3.

In an entertaining final, the Hogg/Henderson pairing eased to victory by a score of 8-2 to lift the trophy for the second year in a row.

Ettrick Forest thanked the Scottish Building Society for their continued support. The raffle raised ÂŁ60 for the Margaret Kerr Unit at the BGH.

Meanwhile, the Lauderdale Glass Mixed Pairs saw Aileen Allan and Craig Lowrie defeat Rose Elder and Colin Sandilands in an extra-end final.

SELKIRK

The winners of Selkirk’s main championships have been decided.

Colin McKinnon defeated Stuart Henderson to take the men’s title, Dave Carruthers triumphed over John Gibson for the handicap crown and the seniors shield was taken home by Hamish Morrison, who beat David Weir.

In the women’s section, the champion was Margaret Milne, after her success in the final over Mattie Smith, and Hazel Scott took the seniors honours from runner-up Jean Scott.
