BORDERS paddler Alice Haining, pictured in action, has been nominated as one of the best up and coming young Scottish athletes to be considered for an honour at Capital FM’s Scottish Variety Awards.

Alice attends Edinburgh University and is a former pupil of Galashiels Academy and St Peter’s Primary School. She is a member of Selkirk Canoe Club, the GB canoe slalom team and Scottish national canoe slalom elite squad. The awards celebrate the best in Scottish variety during an evening of glitz and glamour at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza hotel in March. Other awards include best new Scottish actress/actor, best new comedian and best band.
