Windy open for archers

BOWMEN and women from all over the country attended Ettrick Forest Archers’ open weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Chilly temperatures and increasingly bothersome crosswinds affected the scores, but a few stood up to the conditions and posted some rather good returns.

Jimmy Stillie of the host club was in startling form, winning both the target competition on the Saturday and the clout on the Sunday.

And in the clout competition, the Selkirk-based club boasted the first five places in the gents’ category, with Jimmy’s son Martin, Alan Lindsay, Jim Craig and William Good following the Souter marksman.

Other awards: Bill Campbell (H) won the spot prize for first red, blue and white score, and Douglas Anderson won for the worst scoring white on the last end.
