St Boswells A beat Langholm by nine runs
BORDER SUNDAY LEAGUE
With a dry but spongy Castleholm pitch it was never going to be a day for the batsmen, and so it turned out with a nail-biting conclusion.
St Boswells struggled to just 68 all out, with only a partnership between St Lucian Cletus Mathurin and Scott Turnbull temporarily curtailing the tumbling of wickets.
Star bowler was Jack Ashton-Smith, whose 6 for 13 almost proved to be the match winning performance.
But it was not to be, as only opener Andrew Bell and batsman Jack Pool, with a typically bludgeoning 21, enjoyed any kind of success. Extremely tight bowling from Elliot Ruthven and early wickets for Gavin Deans were followed by an excellent spell from young Alan Rutter of 4 for 17.
Langholm’s tail wagged briefly, but was eventually mopped up by Turnbull.
