KELSO LADIES produced the perfect response to last week’s away defeat by generating a superb home win against Linlithgow Ladies in an East of Scotland Premier Division clash.

Playing at Earlston High School Kelso started well with excellent phases of fast attacking play coming from both sides of the pitch. Suzanne Henry worked well on the right, feeding accurately placed balls to strikers Sarah Hope, Evonne Jack and Jennifer Kinsella. At the half time whistle the score-line remained at 0-0 but the Tweedsiders felt positive that the first goal was not far away.

Early in the second half vice-captain Jack opened the scoring with a blistering strike through the legs of the Linlithgow goalkeeper.

Kelso continued to dominate in the second half, and should have extended their lead on a number of occasions.

The second glorious goal came from Corrine Bird. Natasha Cranston played an excellent ball across the Kelso’s attacking circle which Bird was able to convert.

The score was reduced slightly following a quick break from the Linlithgow side but Kelso kept focused and were able to continue to apply pressure and keep
the visiting side on their toes.

This coming Saturday Kelso Ladies travel to play Erskine Stewart Melville FP Ladies II, supporters welcomed and appreciated.

The team wish to thank the White Swan Hotel, Earlston for providing match teas and continued sponsorship from SJ Cranston Building and Tweed Chiropractic Clinic.
