The first Continental-style race was held on a wet Wednesday night.
Starting at Selkirk Rugby Club, the route ran along the road to Yarrow Kirk, before turning left and heading up to the top of The Swire. Gary Robson and Alistair Meikle raced away to the top to come out ahead of the field just seconds apart, with Robson taking the win in 29 minutes 39 seconds. This week, club rider Graeme Bell is leaving the bike at home to pick up the duties of Weavers’ Standard Bearer at Selkirk Common Riding. Well done and best wishes from all at the club.
Coming up on Monday is round one of The Border Trophy, an open 10-mile TT held at Kelso, round two being staged at Gala on Wednesday. Entry details can be found at galacc.co.uk.

MONDAY night saw the 12-mile time trial championship on the Orange Lane course. Fifteen riders took part, including the club’s new champion Kenny Darling with a time of 27.15.

This Monday is the first leg of the Border Trophy challenge between Kelso and Gala, on the Birgham 10-mile course. Sign-in will be open from 6pm. The second round is at Gala on Wednesday.
ON A wet and windy evening, Davie Murray took top spot in the Peebles Cycling Club Mini Meldons time trial with his first victory of the season. Hot on his heels was Scott Noble, taking part in his first TT with the club, finishing just nine seconds behind the winner.
