THE countdown is almost over.
Tomorrow night, at the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels, hundreds of Borders darts fans will have the chance to watch and play against England’s Phil (The Power) Taylor and Gary (The Flying Scotsman) Anderson.
And, one lucky Southern reader has the chance to get their hands on a pair of VIP tickets for the Battle of Britain Charity Challenge which was sold out almost as soon as they went on sale.
All proceeds from the event, which will include a charity auction and secret raffle, are going to the Borders General Hospital kidney dialysis unit.
But before the evening even kicks off you can help the charity by bidding for the tickets. Organiser Kevin Green will be accepting bids on 07958 642751 from now until noon tomorrow, with the highest offer not only gaining entry for two into the event, but having their photograph taken with Phil and Gary also.
In December 15-times world champion Taylor was named runner-up in the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year and a month later was enrolled into the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) Hall of Fame. And, earlier this month, Anderson, originally from Eyemouth, was runner up at the PDC World Darts Championship.
Borders darts players to play one of the two international hotshots on Friday night are: George Meiklem (Gala), Paul Schaibe (Gala), Jimmy McGuigan (Jed), Graham Patterson (Kelso), Matthew Green (Gala), Davie Frizzle (Gala), Kev Richardson (Kelso), Michael Cullie (Jed), Barry Dalgleish (Gala), Graham Gillie (Kelso), Stuart Sharkey (Hawick), Norrie Forsyth (Peebles), Kevin Green (Gala).
Two places will also be kept aside for the highest bidders at the charity auction on the night, while one secret raffle winner will also play Taylor.
