Borders Fjordhus II 5

Edinburgh Civil Service 4

EAST LADIES’ FIRST DIVISION

WITH end-to-end hockey being played right from the off, it was no surprise when nine goals in total came during this game.

It was ECS that scored the first goal, but Fjordhus responded with a quick pass from Evonne Jack into the circle, allowing Katie Francis to slot the ball home for the leveller.

Shortly after, the visitors added another two goals, making the half-time score 3-1.

Captain Francis gave her interval team talk which lifted the ladies’ spirits – and it showed immediately.

A quick ball from Jack saw Ashley Robson drive the ball into the circle with a powerful strike to find the back of the net. Robson added her second soon after.

Following some great midfield play from Caitlin Beattie, Nicola Laing, Alexa Knox and Robson, the fourth goal was scored by Evonne Jack who fired back a blocked ball by the ECS keeper.

On the counter-attack, ECS broke through Borders defence to level the scores again, but the final few minutes of the game saw Borders keep up the pressure and Nicola Laing popped the ball past the keeper.

Fjordhus II: Kelly Ward, Sara Robson, Vicky Ross, Nicola Laing, Jade White, Fiona Hamilton, Alexa Knox, Maddie Riddle, Evonne Jack, Katie Francis, Laura Brown, Caitlin Beattie, Zoe Higgins.
