ATHLETES from Teviotdale Harriers braved extremely windy and wet conditions to take part in their annual Menzies Races.
The junior event was held first and Lewis Renwick took a strong lead from the beginning and although chased by a very fast-approaching Liam Bouglas, the former managed to hold on for victory in a time of 11 minutes and 25 seconds. Bouglas was runner-up in 11.42 and Robin Lowthian third in 12.05. Fastest actual time was recorded by Fraser Clyne.
The girls’ race had a similar outcome with Poppie Gibson (12.15) being chased down by Lucy Ash (12.26). Sophie Allott (12.34) took third while Carly Blaikie had the fastest actual time.
The next event was a sealed handicap with senior men and women, under-17/under-15 boys and girls all starting together.
