Kelso Amateur Swimming Club hosted their annual swim meet last weekend, welcoming teams from Newcastle (Aquajets), Duns, Eyemouth, Galashiels, Hawick & Teviotdale and Peebles.

There was great enthusiasm from the swimmers, some of whom were competing for the first time, and some great swims and close finishes.

Individual medal winners from Kelso were: Stefani Holliday (silver and bronze); Jonah Gordon (two bronze); Adam Massey (bronze).

The Roger McKay Memorial Trophy for 200m Individual Medley was won by Kelso’s Kirsty Armstrong while both the Top Team and Relay trophies were won by Hawick & Teviotdale.

The medals were presented by Jo Maguire from the East District Swimming Association, which took charge of proceedings. A raffle and various stalls helped make the event a valuable fundraiser for the club, which is extremely grateful to all the volunteers who gave up their time to make the event such a success.

Kelso AS would also like to formally express their sincere thanks to generous sponsors including the Duke of Roxburghe, Rennie Welch Accountants, Blairs’ Jewellers, Stuart Norman from the Gentle Touch dental practice, Bryce Fencing, Cross Keys Hotel and Sainsbury’s, Kelso. Thanks also go to Borders Sports & Leisure Trust for use of the pool and to Fantasy Prints of Berwick for printing the programmes.
