SELKIRK RIFLE CLUB juniors Daniel Burton (Kelso), Andrew Nichol and Darren Brown (both of Selkirk High School) have lifted the Dorset Division 5 title.
In a close end to the season, they won their last match against Ferndown B by 382-379 to finish equal on points with Parkstone, but with a one-shot advantage in the aggregate, Selkirk finish in top spot.
This is a great result for the boys in their first venture into one of the English team leagues where they have been shooting against seniors.
Elsewhere, in Division 1 of the West of Scotland league, things went right down to the wire, but in the end Selkirk retained the title by one point from Greenock A. The team of Bill Vaughan, Eric Brown and Ian Burton averaged 294 over the season.
In the Scottish Small-Bore Leagues, Division One saw Eric Brown finish second and Bill Vaughan third, while Division Three was won by Darren Brown by seven clear points. In the medals, Bill Vaughan came third in A class and Darren Brown came second in the juniors.
In the Lothian individual leagues, Keith Nixon won Division Three and Kevin Edward took Division Five. Bill Vaughan has won the top average medal in the Shoulder-to-shoulder League and in the Border Team League, Selkirk A triumphed in Division One, finishing two points ahead of Dumfries.
In the Border Individual Leagues, Selkirk very nearly had a clean sweep – Division One, Eric Brown; Division Three, Kevin Edward; Division Four, Robert Murray; Division Five, Rory Dempster.
The summer outdoor shooting season has started, so if you see members of the club up on the hill give them your support and watch out for the red flags flying.
These mean danger, therefore please do not walk or ride your horses behind the targets when the flags are up.
