BORDER POOL LEAGUE business got under way last week with High Level and Waverley A starting off well in their Division One campaign.

However, Abbotsford gained a fine win over title challengers Ship A in a tight match and Nikis A battled to overcome a fighting Dryburgh outfit.

In the Division Two, shock troops Ship B dumped Reivers B, White Swan Kelso continued their fine form when edging Niki’s B and Reivers A overcame Bridge in a tense local derby.

Results – Division One: Abbotsford (Gala) 5 Ship A (Melrose) 4; Dryburgh (Newtown) 3 Nikis A (Gala) 6; High Level (Hawick) 7 Waverley B (Hawick) 2; Waverley A (Hawick) 7 Fleece (Selkirk) 2.

Division Two: Ship B (Melrose) 5 Reivers C (Gala) 4; Reivers B (Gala) 9 Hawick Conservative Club 0; Nikis B (Gala) 4 White Swan (Kelso) 5; Bridge (Gala) 2 Reivers A (Gala) 7.

This weekend, the refurbished Reivers Sports Bar in Galashiels hosts the Scottish Masters. This major achievement is a first for the Borders.
