Silver Arrow archers suffer from wind

ETTRICK FOREST ARCHERS’ Silver Arrow Clout Shoot took place on Sunday in what could only be described as challenging conditions.

The wind was a pesky obstacle, but handling it best was Alan Lindsay for the gents and Elaine Pearson for the ladies.

Jimmy Stillie took the first round in the gents’ competition, while Mike Pearson nicked the second and Ev Craig hit the best score in the ladies’ first round.

They all won bronze medals, as did Elaine and Alan in the best ends shoot-off.

Kyle Fairbairn won the silver medal for the juniors.

If the elements were a bit of a downer, the archers were uplifted by a visit from member Robert Patterson, who has been absent for a while through illness, but paid a visit with his family.

This Sunday, the archers head up to Mugdock Country Park for a clout event hosted by the Green Hollow club.
