Fjordhus Reivers II3

Cala IV0

Fjordhus Reivers Ladies 2nds were playing their first home game of the season and looking to improve on the previous weekend’s performance.

Imogen Johnston Jones made her debut for Reivers II and had an outstanding game as right back – her tackling, vision and passing were excellent, allowing Kirsty Sharkey freedom to run into space. On one such occasion Sharkey slotted the ball into goal from a perfectly-weighted pass from Sara Robson.

The momentum of the game started to be dictated by Reivers, forcing CALA to try and play a longer passing game. As a result Reivers were able to step up from defence and offload quickly to the dynamic midfield. The legwork from this quartet enabled the forward line a lot of freedom and as a result Nicola Laing found herself in space at the back post to score a second.

After the restart the home side continued their hard work. On two occasions Lara Patterson was unfortunate not to score with some determined solo running. The third goal came from Sharkey who worked tirelessly from start to finish. The keeper saved an initial shot from Ashley Robson, but Sharkey swooped onto the rebound.

Fjordhus Reivers II are now top of the East League One table.
