Hawick rider Hilary Mactaggart added to a successful show season when claiming the ridden hunter championship at the prestigious Scottish Masters.
Hilary of Greendale, near Whitehaugh, rode her 16.2hh gelding Windsor Wood (aka Sam) under the spotlight in the evening performance at Kingsbarn Equestrian Centre, Falkirk.
“It was a long day, but well worth it,” said Hilary, who didn’t get home until midnight after a 5am start.
Since buying Sam in Buckinghamshire two years ago, Hilary has enjoyed a successful campaign with the horse, who was novice champion at the National Hunter Show at Malvern.
“We’ve had another good season, and he was an absolute star on Sunday,” said Hilary, who also competes with former Horse of the Year Show winner Harley Street.
“I had a brilliant day at West Fife when Sam was champion and Harley reserve, but the Masters has definitely been one of the year’s highlights.
“It’s been a great weekend,” said Hilary.
