Robson clear leader in Galashiels time trials

A PLEASANT evening prevailed as 10 Galashiels Cycling Club riders participated in last Monday’s 10-mile time trial.

Gary Robson was on his usual form, achieving first place in 21.50. The next three riders, who are battling for second place in the club championship, fought hard to obtain the runner-up slot, but Ian Pearson edged ahead of Graeme Lawrie in a time of 23.49.

Lawrie arrived seven seconds later, followed by David Johnston a further seven seconds behind him. The rest of the field produced some of their best rides of the season as their form continues to improve.

Results: 1, G. Robson 21.50; 2, I. Pearson 23.49; 3, G. Lawrie 23.56; 4, D. Johnston 24.03; 5, S. Lowes 25.00; 6, B. Lowes 25.59; 7, B. Hamilton 26.01; 8, C. Roberts 27.05; 9, R. Kerr 27.08; 10, B. Watson 28.45.

The good weather returned for Wednesday evening’s 25-mile time trial.

Again it was Robson who stormed home in 55.35.
