Fjordhus Reivers III5
KYDS II (Kelso)0
The young teams took to the pitch and provided some exciting high energy hockey in this local derby.
The first half was fairly evenly matched with both teams creating opportunities in front of goal, but it was Reivers’ Chloe Richardson who opened the scoring late in the first half with an excellent strike from a narrow angle.
The Fjordhus ladies piled on the pressure in the second period, with goals coming from Leona Porteus (2), Richardson and Jenny Sharp, which consolidated their position at the top of East District Division Two with two games in hand.
Kelso are still in a good position to finish third, which would be a great achievement for a team with so little experience.
Gemma Bootman in goals pulled off some fearless saves which helped to keep the score down.
Although a little disheartened at the finish, Kelso have three games left and will aim to finish the season on a high, starting with this week’s game against Linlithgow.
