THE first Scottish Orienteering League event of the autumn series meant a four-hour drive to Aberdeen last weekend.
The Forvie Nature Reserve is a heather-covered area of sand dunes just north of the infamous Trump International golf course and proved a physically tough area to run on, made slightly tougher by the blue sky and strong wind which left most of the runners tired and weather-beaten.
Roxburgh Reivers only fielded a small team, but the best results were from Kirstin Maxwell and Lindsey Knox, who both finished second in the W20 and W50 classes respectively, and Ian Maxwell was fifth on M50.
Karen Maxwell had an excellent run the previous weekend to finish first in the W18 class of the Lincoln City Race.
The next local event is at Selkirk Hill this Saturday, with competitors asked to meet at the Argus Centre at 1pm.
