ABBOTSFORD

BOTH A and B team league games were cancelled over the last two weeks due to torrential downpours.

The Braw Lads Pairs took place at the Gala green last weekend.

In the close final, Keith Campbell and Brian Anderson (Abbotsford) held a two-shot lead over Alan Howlieson and Graham Prentice (Abbotsford) going into the last end, in which the latter pair only scored one shot, giving the trophy to Campbell and Anderson for the second time.

The Open Singles competition takes place this Saturday, not Sunday as indicated on some posters. More names are required in order to ensure the competition goes ahead and entries can be made by phoning the club on 01896 753417.

The club is holding an Open Day this Sunday and anyone is welcome to come along. Members are also asked to bring along friends or family for what will be a light-hearted game of bowls, followed by refreshments.

LANGHOLM OLD TOWN

THE club held its annual singles tournament last Sunday with an entry of 44.

The winner was Annan’s Salvatora Panico, who beat Paul Warwick of Langholm New Town.

Beaten sem-finalists were Alistair Elliot from Newcastleton and Ronnie Nichol from Hawick Wilton.

The tournament was sponsored by Karl Nawrocki and the J A Turnbull cup was presented to the winner by Cornet Andrew Elliot.

A social evening followed in the clubrooms.

Kevin Irving was chairman for the occasion and music, song and comedy was provided by Billy Young from Langholm and Ken Fryer and Billy Thomson from Newcastleton.
