Local rivalry was the order of the day when the Under-15 Championship and Plate finals of the Aitken Turnbull Border Netball League were played in Peebles last weekend.

Eight teams from around the region had entered the event and the finals brought about a remarkable turn of events in that the Plate final brought together Hawick A against Hawick B (no Hawick teams had ever reached finals day before) with the Championship final featuring another home derby between Peebles A and Peebles B teams.

The result went to form for the plate final, with the winners being Hawick A by 18-11.

However, there was a big upset in the Championship final with Peebles B, captained by Kazya Stevens, pulling out all the stops to snatch victory from their older clubmates to win by 25-23.
