Gala Harriers’ Thomas Otton and Louise Mercer face an anxious wait to see if they have made the Scottish hill running team.
The pair performed well at the Junior Home International trials at Aberfoyle on Sunday and hope to make the squad which competes on September 21.
Otton lined up alongside team-mate James Mercer in the under 16 boys race which tackled a 4.9 kilometre route.
Despite the demands of a 275m climb, Otton finished in a very good third spot in 23 minutes 27 seconds, with James Mercer not far behind in sixth (26.11).
The under-19 girls race started at the same time as the under-16 boys and Louise Mercer showed a welcome return to form following a lengthy period of injury to hold off the challenge of her Scotland team-mate Emma Dunnett and win in a time of 27.48.
The other Harrier to compete was Jamie Logan in the under 14 race over 3.8km.
The inexperienced youngster acquitted himself well finishing in sixth place in a time of 21.15.
