Not too bad

LAMMERMUIR CC had themselves a less terrible season than experienced over the last few years, writes Alisdair Lindsay.

It all started with an expedition to Aberdeen early in the season to play in the indoor Grand Match where they hit a purple patch, defeating their Fife opposition 15- 3, thereby making a useful contribution to the South win.

In the Border league the early games were better forgotten, but a slight winning streak lifted them a bit higher in the table than the previous season. A passable run in the Harry Hogg saw them into the semi-final, but no further.

The club is ever on the lookout for new members, young or old, who just like to enjoy the game. Gus Macmillan is the relevant administrator on 01890 840283.

Following a nasty accident while out cycling, it is a relief to hear that the chairman of Border Ice Rink directors Douglas Elliot is making a robust recovery from some unpleasant injuries, and has been spotted at the rink checking up on building work at these hallowed premises.
