LANGHOLM gained an easy 10-wicket victory at the Castleholm last Saturday against a Melrose side who were only able to field nine players, writes John Smith.
Melrose won the toss and opted to bat on the soft wicket. Irvine Robertson (2) was caught behind by keeper Gregor Park off Steve Johnstone with the score on nine.
Stuart McKay joined Barry Scott and they carried the score to 43 before Mackay (5) went lbw to Johnstone.
Johnstone, Jack Pool and Elliott made quick work of the remainder and Melrose were all out for 67 in 34 overs.
Langholm openers Andrew Bell and Gregor Park never looked in danger. Bell hit a six in the 10th over to pass the visitors’ total. Gregor Park was 43 not out and Bell 25 not out.
