HAWICK Waverley have consolidated their top spot in Divison One of the Automatic Choice Border Pool League with convincing win at Niki’s B.

St Boswells Legion and Niki’s A both won to keep challenging for second, while Ship A pipped White Swan Earlston in the remaining game, leaving the current champions in a relegation battle with Niki’s B.

Division Two saw High Level go top in an impressive local derby against Waverley B, Fleece kept up the pressure with a narrow win at Abbotsford, while Dryburgh and bottom team White Swan Kelso won the remaining games to boost them up the table.

Results – Division One: Nikis B (Gala) 3 Waverley A (Hawick) 8; Bridge A (Gala) 3 Nikis A (Gala) 8; Ship A (Melrose) 6 Red Lion (Kelso) 5; St Boswells Legion 6 White Swan (Earlston) 5.

Division Two: Abbotsford (Gala) 5 Fleece (Selkirk) 6; Waverley B (Hawick) 3 High Level (Hawick) 8; Dryburgh (Newtown) 9 Bridge B (Gala) 2; Kings Arms (Melrose) 5 White Swan (Kelso) 6.

In the bowl quarter-finals all games went to the big guns. Niki’s A and Bridge A from Division One both went through easily along with High Level and Dryburgh from Division Two. Semis: Niki’s A v Dryburgh and Bridge A v High Level – to be played later in the season.
