Netball boosted by visit of top coach

Scotland’s national netball coach, Gail Parata, visited the Borders to deliver Netball Scotland’s first regional coaching workshop.

Twenty-six coaches and teachers from across the region and further afield attended the event which was held at Peebles High School and organised by Borders Sport and Leisure, working with Netball Scotland.

Blair Cremin, regional development manager (east) for Netball Scotland, said: “To get 26 coaches to a continual professional development netball course on a wet winter’s night in Peebles is nothing short of fantastic.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has assisted with the organisation of this event, especially Borders Sport and Leisure and Peebles High School, for their support.”

Ewan Jackson, chief executive of Borders Sport and Leisure, added: “It was a pleasure to welcome Gail and Netball Scotland to the first of what we hope will be many netball coaching development courses in this area.

“The Borders was selected for this education workshop following positive partnership work with the governing body and due to the high quality of delivery of netball in this region. We have really enthusiastic coaches and teachers, and a growing number of young teams across the Borders.”
