BORDER BOWMEN archer Michael Murray, from Kelso, travelled to Walker in Newcastle for the two-day FITA 70 plus head-to-heads.

A FITA 70 consists of 72 arrows shot at 70m.

On the Saturday it was cold and very windy, Michael was seventh and knocked out in the quarter-finals of the head-to-heads while on the Sunday he was second with a score of 570, but the head-to-heads were cancelled due to the increasing wind strength.

Paralympic archer Kate Murray from Eastcote Disabled Club also took part in the competition, finishing third on the Sunday and second for the double score.
