Muckle defeat at Kirby Stephen

Langholm cricketers travelled to Eden Valley Division One leaders Kirby Stephen last Saturday and suffered a heavy defeat, writes John Smith.

The home side made an impressive 314 for 5 in the 40 overs, and they dismissed Langholm for 100.

Kirkby Stephen opened the batting and reached 70 before losing the first wicket.

The score had reached 100 before the second and 179 by the time the third collapsed in the 26th over.

The home batsmen continued to destroy the Langholm bowling and by the end, Davies had a superb 132 not out.

Duncan Elliott was the pick of the Langholm bowlers with figures of 2 for 59.

Langholm made a bad start with Elliott (5) clean bowled by Hook with the score on 12.

The deadly home bowling continually had Langholm in trouble and at one stage it was 36 for 5.

Bell (15) and Johnstone (26) were the only batsmen to reach double figures, and Langholm were all out for 100 in the 29th over.
