TEAMS from across the UK descended on Galashiels’ renovated Reivers Sports Bar for the inaugural Border Reiver Five-man event.
The two Borders teams unfortunately failed to make the semi-finals, finishing fifth and sixth respectively after the round-robin stages.
In the all-Scottish first semi-final, Aberdeen cruised to an easy 8-3 victory over Penicuik while Milton Keynes edged out Cumbria in a 8-6 thriller.
The final was surprisingly easy for the English boys, setting up an early lead then responding well when Aberdeen fought back to run out winners by 8-4.
Craig Moir of the Borders Pool squad added: “The Borders teams fought well but Milton Keynes deserved their win.
“It was a tremendous weekend for all with Reivers looking a top venue to attract big competitions in the future.”
