Home Town: Peebles.
Discipline: Long jump.
Club: Edinburgh AC.
Coach: Linda Nicholson.
Best moment in sport so far: Getting a PB (5.93m) at the Scottish Senior Championships.
Aims for the next 12 months: Hopefully a PB of 6m (if we get better weather next summer). To compete at the British Unis next May in the Olympic Stadium. Improving on my new event of triple jump.
How does the ASP help you most: Feeling of personal support. Everyone wants to help. Access to proper strength and conditioning facilities close to home.
Who in sport most inspires you: Jessica Ennis, heptathlete. She is a similar size to me which shows you don’t have to be tall and muscular to succeed in sport.
FavOURITE sporting moment of all time: Jess Ennis again, really going for it in the 800m in the final event of the European Championships when she could have strolled round and still won gold.
Best thing about your sport: The variety in the training – weights, bounding, speed work, technique and fitness.
... but dislike: Training in the snow. Getting sand everywhere.
If not in this sport, would like to compete in: Netball. I played until leaving school earlier this year. It’s fast, tough and tiring and on the up in the Borders. It’s fun to play in a team sport.
Usual pre-competition meal: Evening before – Chicken, broccoli and pasta or noodles.
Food dislikes: Mushrooms.
Best motivational song or track: Right Here, Right Now by Fatboy Slim.
... but turn off/leave the room to: Justin Beiber.
Competition superstition or odd routine: Always wear the same odd socks.
When not competing or training I like to: See family and friends. Watch Strictly!
