After a damp start, the sun eventually came out at Traquair House for the opening event in the local orienteering calendar and a large turnout of runners enjoyed a multi-stage short-course competition.

In the challenge for novices, it was Charlotte Muller Stuart who took the honours in the two-stage competition with a total time of 30 minutes and 30 seconds, while Eva Gibson finished runner-up in 41.17.

The three-stage competition saw the lead change hands several times before GB team member Kirstin Maxwell came out on top with a total time of 30.29. Faisal Khursheed finished on 31.43, with Ian Maxwell third on 32.02.
