MEMBERS of Border Bowmen were in action at the Penicuik double FITA Star competition.
On the first day of the world record status event Leigh Christie scored 1,099 and Michael Murray had 1,011 in wet and very windy conditions.
For the second day the weather was drier and less windy.
Leigh shot 1,150 for a total of 2,249 to take second place in the ladies’ recurve, while Michael had 1,157 for a total of 2,168 in the gents recurve.
In this style of tournament the ladies shoot 70m, 60m, 50m and 30m, and the gents’ distances are 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m. 36 arrows are shot at each distance at a target with 10 scoring rings, with the middle ring worth 10 points. A large 122cm target is used at the longer two distances and the smaller 80cm used on the shorter ones.
