A road safety awareness evening on keeping safe when horses are involved is being held next Tuesday (October 21) in The Salmon Room, Buccleuch Arms Hotel, St Boswells.

Entry to the event organanised by the British Horse Society is free and a free goody bag containing a hi-viz vest, vet wrap and stickers will be on offer to the first 100 people through the door.

There will also be a raffle and free refreshments.

The evening will open with a brief discussion of some sobering statistics about horses and other road users, which will be followed by representatives from the local emergency services and a member of a Facebook road awareness group talking to the audience. There will also be a talk from one of the local vets, ending with a light quiz and prizes.

The event, which starts at 7.30pm, is open to all and organisers are hoping parents, children, riders and drivers will attend.
