Gala’s seconds secured a three-wicket win at Langholm in a much-needed friendly.
Gala were able to field two teams on the same day last Sunday – with the firsts playing in the President’s Trophy final – but they picked up a couple of Hawick players to fill their side.
Played on the artificial wicket at a sodden Castleholm, Langholm batted first, but struggled throughout, with Jason Anthony’s accurate bowling seeing him take four wickets for just eight runs.
Youngster Jamie Crooks also impressed with 3 for 19 before Scotland under-17 cap Charis Scott claimed the vital wicket of Graham Park for 24 as the Muckle Toon posted 95.
Gala’s young side batted sensibly in reply, punishing the bad ball when required. There were contributions throughout the side with Max Hastings, Crooks and Jack Easson all making good scores as the visitors passed the total in the 32nd over.
