Having secured their place in division one of the Eden Valley league for another season, Langholm were looking to produce a good display in their penultimate match against Carlisle 3rds on Sunday – but suffered defeat by three wickets.
Langholm were all out for 140 in 35.5 overs and Carlisle finished on 142 for 7 wickets in 36.3 overs.
Langholm were two wickets down for 25, but then Gregor Park and Gregor Masterton formed a good partnership and were going well until the latter was run out for 17 with the score 64 for 3.
Gregor Park continually ran out of partners and he was eventually bowled by Hogarth after a great knock of 71. The tail was soon dismissed and Langholm were out for 140, with Park and Masterton the only batsmen to reach double figures. In the home bowling, Hogarth had 4 for 29 and McMillan 2 for 40.
Carlisle made a shaky start and were 28 for 3, with Steven Johnstone bowling well for Langholm. Bell (48), Oultram (17) and Wall (23) carried the score along to help secure a good victory.
In the Langholm bowling, Johnstone had 3 for 24, Duncan Elliott 2 for 31 and Chris Stewart 1 for 17.
