THE annual Alame Fraser Ladies Pairs competition took place at Kelso Ice Rink last week.

A keenly-fought competition between 12 pairs was eventually won by Marion Pate (lady president) and Wendy Henderson (vice-president) after several years of trying.

Last year’s winner Margaret Robertson presented them with the trophy originally donated by her mother.

They defeated May Mitchell and Sue Brewis in the final.

The Low road was won by Isla Forsyth and Nina Clancy at their first attempt.

The next major event on the ladies’ calendar will be the Henderson Bishop finals, held at Inverness from February 20-23 with the team of Margaret Robertson, Venetia Scott, Wendy Henderson and Marion Pate representing Border Ice Rink.
