A very young St Boswells Ladies began their league season on Sunday with an 81-run victory over Glasgow Accies (GALS).

The Borderers had a slow start at bat, though, with only three runs scored from the first three overs and losing opener Heather Woodcock. Caitlin Ormiston joined Jo Dixon at the crease and the pair took the score to 51, before skipper Kathryn White and Dixon put pressure on the GALS fielders. Dixon reached her half-century just before departing, leaving White to rotate the strike before dispatching the last two balls of the innings for 6 to take her tally to 42, and St Boswells finished on 138 for 4.

In reply, GALS got off to a quick start with Liv Barbour taking a couple of boundaries, but the tight bowling of the Borderers, backed up by excellent fielding, ensured GALS could only amass 55 for 5 from their 20 overs.

St Boswells ladies train on a Fridays at 6pm at The Green and are always on the lookout for new members to join them. If anyone is interested contact Kathryn White on 07780 908021 for more details.
