JUNIOR members of Focus Judo club, Galashiels, have achieved the next stage of their grading syllabus.
Approximately 30 children from the club were awarded their certificates from Judo Scotland this week.
Focus Judo is one of the oldest clubs in Scotland, having been founded by Bill Hislop in 1951.
The club is still going strong today with more than 70 members and four qualified coaches.
The club’s head coach, Tam Hardie, has recently achieved the grade of fifth dan black belt along with fellow coach Stuart Gordon who has achieved third dan.
Beginners are welcome to come along, whether to simply keep fit, try a martial art or to take up competitive judo.
The club runs on a Monday night at the Focus Centre in Galashiels. The first session for under-eights is at 6pm, eight-13 from 7-8pm and 14-adult from 8-9pm. The first session is free. If you are interested, please come along at the times listed, or go to www.focusjudo.org
