Kelso promoted at Meggetland

Cala Edinburgh V0

Kelso II4

Victory on Saturday sees Kelso in an unassailable position at the top of the East Division One table with two games left to play.

Playing under the Meggetland lights, the Kelso girls’ silky skills prevailed over the more aggressive style of the city team.

On the five-minute mark, a good run and pass into the D by Jennie Robson found Rebecca Braidy, who tucked the ball past the Cala keeper.

Robson found herself on the scoresheet next after some good interplay on the edge of the D. The game was far from one-sided and Cala enjoyed their fair share of possession and pressure.

The first half ended with a penalty corner to Kelso, where a crisp shot from Kirsty Logan hit the target to put the visitors 3-0 up.

The second half started with a period of sustained pressure from Cala, but a strong Kelso defence, well-marshalled by Jeanie Robertson, kept the home team at bay. Midway through, an excellent solo run saw Robson all the way into the D to tuck the ball away for the best goal of the game.
