EAST LADIES’ PREMIER DIVISION
KELSO ladies resumed their league fixtures on Saturday after a prolonged winter break.
Against a determined Eskvale side, the Tweedsiders opened strongly, displaying some impressive movement off the ball and creating some great passages of play.
The visiting side consistently kept play within their opponents’ half and tested the Eskvale defenders.
However, even though Eskvale did not create many chances, when they did they grabbed them and duly opened the scoring with a strike into the bottom corner.
Kelso were persistent, however, constantly pressurising the home goal and when rewarded with a penalty corner they were sure to make their mark on the game when Suzanne Fleming slotted the ball into the goal.
The Tweedsiders’ second came in the dying minutes of the first half when they once again found themselves celebrating a penalty corner success as Emma Pate found the backboard.
The second period began very similarly to the first where Kelso were on the look-out for their third goal to secure them a win.
Unfortunately, they were unable to capitalise on their chances. Again, after a rare fast break, Eskvale grabbed their second and shortly after completed their hat-trick.
A tough lesson to learn for Kelso ladies who clearly gave the better performance, but have much to improve on before next week’s fixture with Edinburgh University.
