WITH a motorcycle TT event in the Jedburgh area now a distinct possibility in the next couple of years, Borders Race of the Reivers Ltd have organised an open day to give members of the public a taste of what’s to come.
On October 27, a show will be staged in the Glebe, Jedburgh, and guest of honour will be four-time world champion stunt rider Kevin Carmichael with Triumph UK motorcycles, as well as representatives from the Irish Road Racing Association, Superbike Series and members of the Scottish Auto Cycle Union.
Andy Hadwin, director of Race of the Reivers, told TheSouthern: “We want to allow people to see what the Reivers will offer the area in a small scale prior to the main event.”
Various motorcycle dealers and associated trades with trade stands and stalls, similar to the BMF show at Kelso in July, will be in attendance on the day. Companies attending or being represented include the Co-op, Silkolene Fuchs, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Ducati, BMW, Honda, and Suzuki. Entry is free.
Also present will be members of various motorcycle and sidecar racing teams and their machinery who will talk with anyone who wishes to know more.
Jedburgh traders will also have a presence, as will the Scouts in order to increase awareness of organisations and trade within the region, while the emergency services and Northern Air Ambulance have also been invited.
“As laid out in our original ethos, the main drive is to show what the Borders can do, what we are willing to do, and to increase the area’s presence in people’s minds as a place to visit and work or trade with instead of going to Edinburgh and the Highlands all the time,” added Hadwin.
