The semi-finals of the Aitken Turnbull Border League were played at Queen’s Centre last week, with both Peebles Under-15 teams reaching this stage, having played qualifying matches over recent months.

Both games were similar, with Peebles emerging as stronger overall, with some feisty play from their opposition in patches, but not sustained enough to provide any serious threat.

The victories for the two Peebles teams will result, for the second year in succession, in a home derby.

In a surprise turn of events last season, a major upset occurred in the last few minutes of the final, with the B team taking the spoils. This year looks to be as difficult to predict, with both sides having strengths and weaknesses, and the final outcome too close to call.

The Aitken Turnbull Border League final will be held at The Gytes in Peebles on Sunday, March 1 (1pm-4pm) when both the Championship and Plate finals will be decided.

The semi-finals of the Plate are being played over the coming week and involve teams from Berwickshire, Hawick and Earlston.
