It’s about time someone tackled the Tories

FOUR weeks of the Selkirk Bowling Club Pub League have passed and a new force has been well and truly established.

Last Friday, the Tory Club team of Davie Weir, Tom Heatlie, Elma Young and Bob Wilson endorsed their top-of-the-table position by totally annihilating the Southern Reporter.

And despite claims from the jaded journos that “it was neck and neck for a while,” those particular body parts were on the block by the end of the game and heads were seen to be rolling down the Hermitage path on Monday.

Fresh from their jaunt round Minto (see report above) the Merchant Company marched on in pursuit of the leaders and played well above par to down the Masons who, incidently, are still propping up the table.

Results: Town Arms 10 Ex Standard Bearers 11; Merchant Company 12 Masons 8; Southern Reporter 5 Tory Club 18; New Fleece 16 Babychams 9.

Tonight’s fixtures: New Fleece v Ex Standard Bearers; Merchant Company v Southern Reporter; Masons v Town Arms; Babychams v Tory Club.
