FACING tough opposition from all the other districts in Scotland a depleted South Under 18s girls hockey squad found the going tough at the annual Inter District tournament at Peffermill in Edinburgh.

The local outfit had struggled a bit in the build up to the tournament with a few injuries creeping into the squad. The girls acquitted themselves very well throughout the weekend in challenging circumstances as they lost one of their strongest players to injury on day one. A bit of reshuffling was required and the girls responded very well to the challenge.

The results were as follows: Day 1 - South U18 0 East U18 3; South U18 0 Midlands U18 1; South U18 0 South West U18 1. Day 2 - South U18 0 West U18 6; South U18 2 North U18 1.

The girls finished in fifth position overall and the following girls were selected for U18 Scottish Trials: Claire Hill, Emily Newlands, Gina Ramsay and Lucy Ramsay.
