Hawick’s Stuart Easton was back in action for his Rapid Solicitor’s Kawasaki British Superbike team last weekend at the 2.4 mile iconic Donington Park circuit in Leicestershire.
Qualifying took place on Saturday and having practised well on Friday Stuart was looking more like his brilliant best, making it through to the third leg of the three part qualifying and finishing in fifth place on the grid for the two 20 lap races on Sunday.
Less than a second covered the first six places for the grid places. Speaking to Stuart on Sunday morning he knew he would not make the top six title showdown for the championship but was pleased with his qualifying and would like more speed for the races.
In glorious sunshine he rode a good solid race one and finished in fifth place.
In race two Stuart showed his intention from the start moving into second place. Fighting off the title contenders he remained in second for several laps eventually finishing the race in an excellent fourth spot.
He now feels his form is coming back and is looking forward to contesting the Superbike Cup competition which is for the remaining Superbike riders who didn’t make the top six title showdown. Continuing on this form he must be one of the favourites to win.
The next round is at Assen in Holland in a weeks time (September 19, 20, 21).
