THE final day of this year’s highly-successful Aitken Turnbull Under-13 Borders Netball League reaches a dramatic climax on Sunday with the two teams in contention for the much-coveted title drawn against each other for a showdown at noon.
And young guns will be firing at the Hawick High School venue when Peebles and Earlston take to the court, both teams having shown superb skill and determination so far to be unbeaten after five league matches apiece.
This is the second year of league sponsorship from the Galashiels-based architects Aitken Turnbull.
The league is played at Under-13 and Under-15 age groups, with the Under-15 league soon to go to semi-final stage and the Under-13 league completing on Sunday.
The latter set-up involved seven teams from four Borders clubs, 70 players, nine coaches and 21 matches played in a round-robin format across five Border venues.
Peebles go into the final with a better goal difference than their rivals, but have to cope with the pressure of trying to retain the title won by their clubmates last year.
Earlston Under-13s have gone from strength to strength through the season, with confidence at a high following their run of wins and nothing to lose, having been placed fourth last year.
Five matches will be played at Hawick High School on Sunday, starting at 10am.
The decider for the Under-13s title is at noon. Spectators are welcome.
