High-flying thirds do the double

Fjordhus Reivers III3

Grange IV0

A late passback at Tweedbank on Friday night saw Fjordhus thirds start well and following coach Pippa Bell’s instructions for most of the half, the ladies pressed the opposition hard, retained possession and notched two goals from unstoppable strikes by Emma Grieve and Katy Nimmo.

After a half-time chat with stand in coach Carrie Corcoran, Reivers came out fighting again in the second half. Reivers continued to dominate throughout, although Grange did manage some flurries of activity in front of the Reivers goal with a couple of missed opportunities.

Fortunately Reivers, in the form of Camilla Smith, managed to secure a further goal to seal the game.

The thirds played their second game of the weekend, with the majority of players coming from the under-16s age group.

The young team played with maturity and demonstrated their ability to transfer training ground drills into matchplay.

Goals came from Chloe Richardson, Alex Bell, Julia Corcoran and Katie McLaren, with Jenny Sharp playing some superb hockey to create the build-up play.

Fjordhus Reivers III have earned a two-week break and currently sit six points clear at the top of East Division Three. Coach Bell would like to thank all parental volunteers who helped support the team over the weekend.
