Hawick youths get a grip at Kelso

Last weekend Hawick & Wilton Under 14s took on Kelso at Buccleuch Park and the Tweedsiders took control from the off.

However, good bowling and fielding from the Hawick boys kept the total to 101 for six. Corrie Patterson was best of the bowlers with three for 18.

Chasing a commanding total, Evan Alexander and Justin Tait started well until Tait was bowled for seven. This brought Rhys Tait to the wicket; his partnership with Alexander proved crucial. Each retired having scored 31. It was left to Marcus Brogan, 11 not out, to hit the winning runs as Hawick passed Kelso’s total with only two wickets down.
