Last Saturday was certainly a good day for the Welsh - they beat England in the Rugby World Cup and Tom had his best ever score of 79 net 64 to win the 36 hole Yarrowford Shield.

He pipped the in-form Rodney Pow and the evergreen Norman Roxburgh.

Tom modestly attributed his success down to a breakfast of cheese on toast.

Saturday’s second round of the competition saw some splendid scoring with Ian Stephenson (65), Alister McVie (66), and Graeme Bell (69) most prominent.

Results: 1, T. Welsh 135; 2, R. Pow 139; 3, N. Roxburgh 140; 4, L. Rutherford 141. Twos: A. McVie at the 7th and D. Brugnoni, J. Coyle and T. Welsh at the 18th.

This Saturday’s competition is the October Medal kindly sponsored by Heatherlie Garage.

Members, family and friends are reminded that the Club Presentation Night is on Saturday, October 10 starting at 7.30pm.
