Getting there

SOUTHERN REPORTER sports personality Stacey Downie is keeping her pledge to improve her performances with two final appearances at Loughborough last week.

Competing for Scotland in the 100m and 200m, the West Linton flyer took the bronze medal position in the latter, coming home in 24.17 – less than a second behind top Scot Lee McConnell (23.64), who was competing for the host club. Stacey landed sixth spot in the 100m event in 11.87. Having sat out most of last season following a hip displacement the 24-year-old is now looking to make the UK top 10 and compete in the UK Championships later this year.
