COMPETING at Tweedbank last weekend, 14-year-old Kerr Gerrard from the Selkirk Track and Field club claimed his first victory on the Borders circuit.

He stormed to the tape in the youths’ 90m handicap, just holding off backmarker Ryan Elliot of Hawick, in 9.95sec, with Daniel Chapman of Kelso in third place.

Tomorrow, the runners roll into Morebattle Tofts for the final local grass meeting of the season.

Selkirk entries are as follows.

110m Open Sprint: Colin Bruce (11m); Geoff Keen (13m); Angus Stanners (9m); Marc Cockburn (14.5).

1,600m Open: Alastair Laurie (310m).

Lap Race Open: Geoff Keen (26m); Colin Bruce (21m).

Junior 90m: Calum Anderson (11.5m); Keelan Gerrard (16m).
